Questions & Answers

Will there be another thriller in the series?

Yes, I have developed the concept for the next book and have begun. I feel a little guilty about leaving meteorology in Prophecy (after all, that’s my training, meteorology). So, in the next one I’m going to tackle global climate change. This area receives so much publicity that it would stupid of me not to consider taking advantage of the topic. In the meantime, though, I plan to publish a book of my short stories in 2008.

Will the same cast of characters be back in your next thriller?

Yes. However, because Linda Kipling has been such a powerful force in the first two books, and because many readers find her to be very interesting, I’ve decided to make her the principal protagonist, taking advantage of her background and obvious strengths as a lead character.

What’s a Thriller?

When I do book signings, I often get asked what a thriller novel is. I usually say that a thriller is an exciting genre of fiction that is fast-paced and often has the world hanging by a thread.

Here is a definition (from the web) that I think is a good one:

A thriller is a novel of suspense with a plot structure that reinforces the elements of gamesmanship and the chase, with a sense of the hunt being paramount. Thrillers can be spy novels, tales of geopolitical crisis, legal thrillers, medical thrillers, technothrillers, domestic thrillers. The common thread is a growing sense of threat and the excitement of pursuit.
